Dell Streak Brings New Competition for iPad
Watch out, Apple.
Dell plans on releasing its worthy rival to the iPad, the Streak, sometime this summer. CEO Michael Dell previewed the device at a conference in San Fancisco two weeks ago, and on Tuesday he revealed it to the public with a promotional video.
Unlike the 9.7-inch iPad, the five-inch Streak will be able to fit in your pocket while offering all the features of the revolutionary iPad and more.
This tablet will also work as a cell phone and include a camera on the front for ubiquitous videoconferencing. The president of Dell’s communication group, Ron Garriques, says this tablet “hits the sweet spot between traditional smartphones and larger-screen tablets.”
Dell plans to release the Streak in the United Kingdom next month and in the United States sometime this summer, but has not yet announced the price for the gadget. Running on Google’s Android operating system, the Streak is the first device to attempt to go toe-to-toe with the iPad.
It remains to be seen which will come out victorious, but with all its features and compact size, the Streak stands a real chance in this battle between the two tablet computers. Check out the video above to get a further glimpse into the soon-to-be unleashed Streak.
