German software developers can remove objects from live video — Future Stalins will alter recorded history en vivo
We live in the Future. It’s official. First, someone makes Marty McFly shoes. Then we learn that Google has developed fully-operational autonomous cars. And now, a German software team has released video showing how they can remove objects from live video. The software achieves this by reducing the quality of the image, removing the object, and then increasing the quality again — all within 40 milliseconds.
I mean, seriously. This isn’t that far away from flying cars. Or laser blasters.
In fact, I think I’d prefer laser blasters. Producers of live television will find a multitude of applications for this technology, I’m sure. But for rest of us, is it going to anything more than increase our distrust of television and video sources?
