Google To Release “Caffeine”

When you think about Google, it’s highly unlikely that you think about caffeine too.

That will soon change.

Google’s new search engine Caffeine went live today. It’s an index designed to speed up searches by 50 percent.

With Caffeine, Google crawls the web in smaller portions and and there are more continuous updates. Under Google’s old system, it would crawl the entire web to find batches of web pages in its index and the updates wouldn’t be complete until the whole batch was updated, delaying a web page’s updates.

A recent study released by Experian Hitwise listed Google as the top search engine. Big shock.

Hmmm, this is definitely piquing my interest. Even though I quit coffee/caffeine this semester.
