Handshake hangs with Elvis, Elvis, and Elvis

Saturday morning cartoons lost a bit of their luster today. Instead of crashing out in front of the TV with a box of Lucky Charms, Handshake got up early to watch a parade of vehicle-borne Elvis impersonators roll down Lake George, NY’s main drag. Most of those who got up to watch the parade with us were old enough to have seen the King live. Unfortunately, we haven’t been around that long.
But neither are the people we’re tailing around town this weekend.
Six young Elvis tribute artists belted out some of the Kings’ classics in competition this morning, then Handshake followed them downtown where they put on a free live show for the locals. You’ve never seen so many octogenarian grandmas falling all over themselves.
Word on the street is that full-grown Elvi will be all over town tonight, but it sounds like people are aiming to tame things down a bit. The Lake George Elvis Festival announcer this morning reported one arrest from last night’s adventures, but Handshake was unable to confirm the incident. Chances are it was those rowdy Americade bikers, who are trickling in for this week’s giant motorcycle rally.
Check out Handshake’s September issue and we’ll take you behind the scenes at the Lake George Elvis Festival with some of the youngest Elvis tribute artists in the country.
