The original designs and sketches of the classic arcade game Pac-Man were recently unveiled at the Festival of Games conference in Holland.
The game is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year and as part of the festivities inventor Toru Iwatani revealed his original plans in a scrapbook before speaking at the conference.
The game was first released in February 1980 in Japan with the Japanese title Pakkuman (derived from a Japanese slang phrase that refers to the sound of someone’s mouth opening and closing when they eat). Soon after, the game was launched and renamed in the United States as Pac-Man.
And as they say, the rest is history.
