Radioactive Fish Found Near Nuclear Power Plant

The Post Chronicle reports that a recently-caught yellow perch in the Connecticut River contained high levels of Strontium-90, a radioactive byproduct of nuclear reactions.

Scientists are trying to figure out how the cancer-causing chemical got into the water, although one possible culprit is the Vermont Yankee Nuclear Plant in Brattleboro, just four miles downstream from where the fish was caught.

Meanwhile, three-eyed fish are sure to give the residents of Springfield, Mass. new evidence in their claim that The Simpsons hometown is based on their own piece of real estate, which lies on the Connecticut River about 65 miles downstream from the power plant.
