That playlist of ballads and sappy love songs reserved for self pity days could be your biggest asset when looking for love.  Well, if you can manage to get it pumped into a public space.

A recent study released by the Psychology of Music Journal found that women who listened to romantic music and lyrics before being asked out were more likely to give out their numbers.

The 18 to 20-year-old female participants in the study were exposed to romantic music while waiting for the experiment to begin.  Male participants joined them and asked the females for their numbers during a break.

52.2 percent of the women exposed to romantic music gave out their numbers, as opposed to the 27.9 percent who did after listening to neutral music.

That almost doubles your chances, guys!

The study did not look at the impact of romantic music on men’s dating behaviors, but previous studies have found that music tends to increase pro-social behaviors in men.

Have any of you Handshake readers been influenced by a sappy love song?

Indeed! I have the music for all of my Newhouse players! What do you know about Jeffrey Osborne, Marvin Gaye, Teddy Pendergrass, Luther Vandross, Stevie Wonder? If you play it on a laptop or in your car before asking a fine lady, (no ladies of the night) for her number, you’ll get it! Trust me, I’ve done the research! lol
