“I think the fans will be absolutely thrilled with what they’re getting” — The new The Walking Dead video

Written by

Comments: --

AMC keeps churning out promotional videos for The Walking Dead. But, hey, who’s complaining?

This latest promo tells how the show jumped from the pages of the graphic novel to television. Robert Kirkman, the genius behind the graphic novel, tells us how comic books are similar to television (oh, really?).

Meanwhile, we find out that producer Frank Darabont first picked up the graphic novel at random from the House of Secrets in Burbank. The next day, he was on the phone trying to buy the rights.

Now, this would normally be a boring video — if these guys were talking about anything other than THE WALKING DEAD.

(Video after after the jump — and apologies for the advertisement at the start. Damn you, Carmindy! Stay away from our zombies.)

U.S. version of The IT Crowd

Written by

The pilot for the U.S. version of The IT Crowd is less of of a re-imagining and more of an artifact from an alternate universe where everything is just not quite as funny. Maybe it’s because the jokes don’t work as well a second time. Maybe it’s the lack of the great Matt Berry. Or maybe the problem is that the human brain can’t comprehend why the Moss character (played by Richard Ayoade in the BBC version) is still Moss (played by Richard Ayoade again) in this Bizarro IT Crowd World.

There’s nothing wrong with Richard Ayoade’s acting in this 2007 pilot. He’s hilarious as always. But Joel McHale falls flat in the Roy role. And Jessica St. Clair seems to have picked up a few of the original Jen’s quirks, but only enough to seem oddly out of place when she does them. It’s no surprise the show wasn’t picked up. The show’s creator, Graham Linehan, however, recently told The Guardian a new U.S. version is in the works.

Lego train destruction

Written by

Comments: --

You either die a hero or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain.

It’s true of superheroes and it’s true of Lego builders. The day after your 12th birthday you are a god of Lego. You watch over your newly constructed world and nod in approval. You have built the skyscrapers and the cars and the starships. You command their every movement. But sooner or later it will dawn on you: Now is the time for destruction. And nothing is more glorious then the triple head-on collision of a high speed Eurostar bullet train, a 9-volt ICE train, and a chugging-along Christmas train.

Experts say serial killers start out with little animals, well, supervillains have to start somewhere too. Here’s 5 more videos that prove evil madmen love Lego trainsets:

IPhone 4 video test

Written by

Comments: --

A few days ago I visited the Onondaga Lake Skate Park in Liverpool, N.Y., to research a skateboard story for the local newspaper. Most of the skaters there were around 12-years-old. Some had braces, all of them had scars.

I spent a couple hours chatting with some local skateboarders and shooting some video with my new iPhone 4.

The entire experience was sublime. The iPhone 4’s HD video capture is scarily easy to use. All I had to do was select the “Camera” icon, switch to video mode and turn the unit sideways.

D&D Monster Man: RPG improv that’s actually funny

The D&D Monster man returns! I think the folks at Ragnarok should hire this guy to dress up in a Norker costume. Then they can stab them with they’re soft weapons.

Animated Short: Ode to Nature

History is replete with hermits who go to the top of tall things (mountains, big poles, step-ladders) and then meditate, fast, and sit around for a long time to figure out the meaning of life and the universe or maybe to just be alone for a long time because other people are really freaking annoying.

Anyway, Handshake writer Matthew Millham, also known as superman, has created his own interpretation of the age-hold hermit on the mountain story. So watch the above video and think — deeply –and then forget about it because it will be too much deep for your brain to handle.

Get ready to compile all the embarrassing dance moves you witnessed at a recent family wedding into one long video.

On Wednesday Google announced a new video editing tool for YouTube cleverly named YouTube Editor. The program allows users to edit their videos without any of the bank account-draining software sold at a Best Buy near you.
