Will The iPhone 4G Be The Best Smartphone On The Market?
Today, Apple CEO Steve Jobs debuted the new iPhone 4G, making iPhone users and wannabe iPhone users excited until its release later this month.
(Of course, Gizmodo scooped Apple six months ago. But we digress…)
Before people get too excited over the new smartphone, there are some questions that need to be addressed.
First, how does it differ from the old iPhone? According to Jobs, the iPhone 4G is 25 percent thinner than the iPhone 3GS.
It will also have 1,500 new developer APIs and over 100 new features like multitasking, a front-facing camera, a receiver, a microphone, iBooks, and an iMovie app rewritten to run on the iPhone. So, there are some clear differences between the new and old versions.
Second, will it encounter the same technical problems as the iPhone 3GS? If so, it’ll be deja vu all over again. Users should have the freedom to do whatever they want on their phone without having to run into data and service issues. Their new operating system, OS4, should make multitasking much easier. Well, hopefully.
It seems as if the iPhone 4G will be a great phone for fun, games, and taking care of business, trumping the older iPhones.
We also support Apple making these phones more affordable. It would be a shame to have to pay money for tomorrow’s phone with yesterday’s issues.
Apple plans on charging $99 for the 8gb phone, $199 for the 16gb phone and $299 for the 32gb. They will go on sale June 24 with pre-sales starting June 15.
